City Cruise Through Berlin
Berlin is sometimes called "the German Venice". The city is traversed by the Spree and Havel, totalling more than fifty kilometres of river. The cruise participants will climb aboard a passenger steamer and cruise along the Spree throughout central Berlin. They will enjoy passing by the Berlin Cathedral, the Reichstag, the Government District, and will also glide beneath dozens of bridges, some of which will slide by mere centimetres above the passengers' heads. Food and beverages will be on hand throughout the four-hour trip. The ship is roofed over and also provides outdoor seating.

Tour of Potsdam, Visit to Sanssouci Palace, Shopping in Central Potsdam
It is one of Germany's historical treasures: In 1745 King Frederick II (of the Hohenzollern dynasty, who is also known as Frederick the Great and the Prussian King) ordered the construction of Sanssouci Palace as a summer residence in Potsdam. It is splendidly located at the centre of a beautiful park and is equipped with glamorous salons. Here the king assembled an illustrious group of intellectual giants (including the celebrated philosopher Voltaire), who would go down in history as the "round table of Sanssouci". The palace and the park with its magnificent avenues have been beautifully preserved and are open to the public. This visit will be followed by a city tour through the former garrison town and the modern-day seat of the Brandenburg state government. The tour will terminate in the historic Dutch Quarter (in the centre of the old town), the gateway to a shopping tour of the central city.

Excursion to the "Beelitz Asparagus" in Klaistow
May is asparagus month, and not only in Germany. One of the largest growing areas for this delicacy is located in the region south of Berlin. This is where the classic "Beelitz Asparagus" is planted and harvested. On this day the participants will visit one of the largest "asparagus estates" in Brandenburg: the Bushmann/Winkelmann farm in Klaistow. Here they will tour the 500 square metre plantation, observe modern-day asparagus harvesting techniques, and then enjoy a snack including delicious, freshly harvested pale asparagus in the barn restaurant.
